I am debating with my boyfriend that he says as long as you are faithful to each other we are considered married.Does anywhere in the bible say how to get married?
The Bible does talk about a divorce certificate meaning traditionally some form of marriage certificate was also put in place.
';When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out from his house (Deuteronomy 24:1)
The below link has verses on marriage.Does anywhere in the bible say how to get married?
Since the Bible says to obey the laws of the land, you are not married until you have made a public commitment before either a justice of the peace, or a religious leader of your choice.
If he isn't willing to make a public declaration of his commitment to you, BEFORE WITNESSES, then it's not a valid marriage. (And don't bring up Adam and Eve - that was a one-time, unique case.)
No, there is no marriage ceremony handbook in the Bible. The closest thing is Gen. 2;24, ';This explains why a mon leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.'; Marriage seems to be cultural in the Bible and in my opinion it appears that God recognizes what culture calls marriage as marriage. In our culture that would demand a license from the court, your signatures and some one ';official'; to sign the bottom. The actually ceremony is relatively immaterial as long as in the county the license is issued. If he isn't will to sign on the dotted line, ditch him.
the Bible did not recognize ';common law marriage';
marriage is committing to ';ONE'; person of the opposite sex
as instructed by GOD
you could google ';free online Bible'; and search ';marriage'; you will find tons of verses.
i'd list them but it takes up like 4 pages in my concordance
There are no verses that tell ';how' to get married. Marriage within Christianity is an institutional ritual. Simply being faithful isn't enough for ';the church';.
