I am getting married at the at courthouse and i want to have a reception?

Me and fiance saved our money to have a wedding and nice reception but his mom has cancer and she couldn't work anymore. So we gave her money so she pay her bills so now we are going to the courthouse to get married and then have a reception. What happens when you have the reception that way. Do you and the groom get dress together in the same house and ride together to the reception. Can anybody give me some good advice. I am getting married at the at courthouse and i want to have a reception?
Well that was a big and noble sacrifice you made for your future mother-in-law. I commend you on that, plus you can always to an actual ';wedding'; at a later time or for your 'vow renewals. As far as the reception, seeing is your situation isn't a ';traditional'; one I think you should play it by ear, and just do it however you feel most comfortable, or whatever makes more sense to you. You can still dress nicely at the courthouse, but a traditional wedding gown would look a little weird. A nice white suit or a lighter colored suit or dress will be just fine.





What you'll do is have the courthouse ceremony and then you'll have the reception afterwards.





Since you and the groom will ride together to the courthouse, there's no reason why you can't get dressed together in the same house and also ride together to the reception.





Also, what you did for your mother in law was a wonderful thing. That's what a real marriage is about. Congratulations and enjoy your wedding day!
Just dress kinda regular at the courthouse..it looks ridiculous to wear a wedding dress. Have the reception at a hotel and go early (get a room) and dress in there beforehand.
