I hear the average is dating for 2.5 years and getting married around 17 months after that, is this true? I'm awake at 5:00 a.m. and am curious.
*Also how long have you been married?
Thanks in advance for the answers !How long were you with your partner before getting married?
dated, about 3-4 weeks.
1yr long distance engagement.
live together about a month.
got married.
got pregnant.
Our daughter just turned 4 on August 3rd.
Our 5th anniversary will be October 1st.
My family thought we would not even get this far.... Thanks family. But here we are. Almost 5 yrs later.
I think part of the key is to go into it with the understanding that every single day will be an effort. And effort to say I love you and mean it. An effort to forgive the little things. An effort to have grown up together time. An effort not to smother eachother with a pillow while sleeping. LOL:
Btw, I proposed to HIm. Exactly 7 days after we first met. Who knew. How long were you with your partner before getting married?
Do you really get to know a person? Some people meet, fall in love and get married after knowing each other for 1 day - and it works and for other it doesn't. The key to marriage is that you must have a committed mature heart. Not a heart of selfishness or foolishness (must be honest and up front about EVERYTHING). Pray and pay attention to all of the signs. Ask God to reveal things to you before you make the leap and follow your heart. I got married 2008 and I am separated - my spouse had his own agenda ( almost 6 six months) after saying ';I Do'; - it did not include a wife, respect for himself or his decisions. His attitude after marriage was totally different before marriage - after marriage I did not know who he was; but all is well - peace %26amp; blessings!
Broke all the rules.
Dated 3 months -- proposal -- married 3 months after that.
Married 22 years. Not easy. Marriage seldom is.
Normally U would want to date at least a full year before tying the knot.
We were much older than most pp when we did this. His 2nd time, my 1st time married. That is why we jumped so fast. We wanted kids and menopause was right around the corner. So very lucky to have two children before it was too late.
If we had been younger I would have taken more time.
I've been dating my boyfriend for 2 years...no ring yet. My parents dated 2 years, engaged a few months, and have been married like 30 some years. Everyone is different but I heard statistically you have a better chance of staying married if you are dating between 1-3 years.
Dated for 5 years got married 15 months after that
Married for 5 1/2 years
We started dating when I was a junior in high school and he was a senior. We wanted to be out of school (college) before getting married.
I was with my first husband for 3.5 years before tying the knot. We were married for almost 4 years until he left me for another married woman. and if its five o'clock then i suggest listening to some soft music and getting some much needed sleep.
Dated for 1.5 years
Engaged for 4 months
Married now for 6 wonderful months :)
I think the dating is relative to your age.... younger you are, longer you date.
Having said that, I got married at 27(me) and 30 (him)
Dated for six months
Cohabitated for 2 1/2 years
Engaged for 14 days.

Dated 8 months, married for one year and 2 months. We are also in our late forties and happier than ever before.
You only know a person after two years.
Do not marry before two years unless you have a really amazing spiritually aware connection.
