How to register your marriage in New York when married outside of US?

My wife and I are from New York State and were married in Costa Rica. How or do we need to register in New York? My wife is interested in changing her name.How to register your marriage in New York when married outside of US?

Provided NY accepts Costa Rica's marriage, you need to do nothing except go to the NY SS office with the license, ss, dl and then to the NY DL and do the same to have it all changed. Check ny.gov





That's how it is in Texas, I had some friends get married there as well. Texas recognized Costa Rica's marriage as a marriage.





If they don't accept it, you will have to get remarried.
