Why is it that a 35 yr old never married woman is?

frowned upon and judged, but a never married 35 yr old man is not?Why is it that a 35 yr old never married woman is?
Because a 35 yr old woman is equivilant to 50 ';man'; years. Why is it that a 35 yr old never married woman is?
I think the main reason for this is that women, usually more so than men, want to start a family. Unfortunately for women, they're not fertile all their lives like men are. So, women have a window of time that ends when menopause starts while men don't have to worry about a biological clock when it comes to wanting to have children of their own. Also, women who have children after 40-years-old have a greater chance of the child having downs syndrome as a result of the mother's age. So, it can be like a mad rush for the woman to get married and get started popping out babies. I think it's mainly this biological difference that causes the criticism of women.

Then, a less significant reason could be that women are seen as getting less attractive as they age, and some men (definitely not all) are seen as becoming more attractive as they get older, case in point - George Clooney. So, women are pressured to hurry up and attract a husband before ';the bloom is off their rose';, as the old saying goes. I don't personally really think that women age faster and become less attractive than men with age, but that seems to be the mainstream opinion.
It is not as taboo as it used to be, however there are still a lot of double standards in existence when it comes to women. I believe it is because an unmarried, childless woman was always considered either a spinster or a selfish individual in the old days and some people refuse to get with the times and realize that being unmarried and female is not the worst thing in the world. However, also bear in mind is that a lot of men who are in their late 30's, living with their parents, and not being married are being frowned upon as well.
You're very, very very VERY wrong.

Both are judged in that area of being a good partner.

Interested people find it odd that these persons have never been married, or in a long term relationship. If most of us begin dating by age 17, that is almost 20 years of dating experience. And they found no one in all that time????

It is the same after one is divorced, and not remarried, but dating.

If a man or woman is divorced 15 years it is likely they are not marriageable material. There is nothing wrong with that.

A 35 year old never married single as well, likely has some personality defect in being able to partner. These are not bad.... some people feel no need to ever marry or remarry, and are absolutely delighted with their freedom. But they are not marriage material.
Because women are ';expected'; to seek marriage. Its like its our job to get married and die married. Its quite troubling.

So those who don't get married as prescribed by our bull$hit society, we are considered as either ';failures';, ';lesbians'; or ';whores';......

Really really really really sad!
Because she is a woman. Women are the worst critics and judges of each other. It's how society molds us to be.

That is not something I would ever judge anyone for... sometimes it is a smart idea not to be married.
You're generalizing. Men are judged, too. It depends on the person judging, not on the age or gender of the person being judged.
These days it's fine. It was harder 30+ years ago when it was expected that women would always marry. Nowadays people are more open to the individual single life.
I think ppl are getting more and more used to the idea of women living their lives as bachelorettes.
You know I didn't see a wedding ring but it is amazing the double look . Is he married ? Does he live here. Is he gay or is he just into your work? I'll tell ya hes VERY NiCE LOOKING !
Men are more happy in life I suppose.

double standards still play a HUGE roll in this economy that is why Ithink the ECONOMY needs to Collapse before anything will get done about it

I am thinking that the OLDER hippies were right
I don't frown on them, I assume they either don't want to marry or aren't ready to yet.

I know several first time brides who were 35+.
I agree that it goes both ways. Men are said to have commitment issues and women just have issues...
DOUBLE STANDARD FOR LIFE!!!
The old double standard....men are young forever, don't you know?
Oh geez - is that what I have to look forward to?
goes both ways
